THE MAPAI 275/33KV SUBSTATION – SARAWAK, MALAYSIA

PESTECH has been awarded a contract by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) for the design, supply, deliver, erect and commission of Mapai 275/33kV Substation, Kanowit, Sarawak, Malaysia.

The substation is an important element for the development of SEB’s 275kV and 500kV networks. It’s implementation start date was 1st October 2013 and the contract period is 23 months, hence handover to the client on 31st August 2015. The substation has fully commissioned on 14 June 2017.

The substation has a 275kV open terminal double busbar switchyard consisting of: one bus coupler bay; eight overhead line bays; two 275/33kV 120 MVA transformer feeder bays; and skeleton future bays.

There are two main buildings for 275kV and 33kV controls and auxiliaries, together with a warehouse and guardhouse. A 500kV switchyard adjacent to the 275kV switchyard is to be developed by SEB.
